Rita Coolidge joined Red as Special Guest on his Ireland Tour

Legendary singer Rita Coolidge took to the stage with Red Hurley. The multi Grammy award winning artist sang some of her greatest hits and joined Red in two duets, one of which was the spiritual song Amazing Grace, which Rita started in her Native American language before Red joined in to complete the song in English with Rita. It was a magical moment and received rapturous applause at all the venues where they performed.

Red performed some of his greatest hits, gave us some new songs, and showcased classic tracks from his latest album 'How Great Thou Art' released in the U.K. in November 2009.

On 4th October 2009 Red appeared on the BBC Radio 2 show "Good Morning Sunday" hosted by Aled Jones. He read a poem by Dr Maya Angelou (see below) as his "moment's reflection" for the show.

Touched By An Angel

We, unaccustomed to courage

exiles from delight
live coiled in shells of loneliness
until love leaves its high holy temple
and comes into our sight
to liberate us into life.

Love arrives
and in its train come ecstasies
old memories of pleasure
ancient histories of pain.
Yet if we are bold,
love strikes away the chains of fear
from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity
In the flush of loves light
we dare be brave
And suddenly we see
that love costs all we are
and will ever be.
Yet it is only love
which sets us free.
